Heather Mills said today that training for ‘Dancing On Ice’ was “20 billion times harder” than her appearance on a US dance series.

The 42-year-old promised a spectacular routine for her next appearance on the ITV programme this Sunday, but warned there was a risk of partner Matt Evers “flying into the audience” if things went wrong.

Mills told GMTV: “It’s about 20 billion times harder so unless you’re willing to really put in hours and hours and hours of training, way beyond anything like the dance show, it is the hardest thing.”

She appeared on ‘Dancing With The Stars’ in 2007, and Evers said the way she has taken on her latest challenge is “inspirational”.

Mills said she would try “anything” during training, as long as her professional partner proved it could be done on her artificial leg first.

She said: “Every time Matt asks me to do something I say: ’OK, do it like you can’t move your ankle, and you can’t move your feet like you do with your own feet, and keep your leg straight’.

“If he manages to do that, then I say: ’Right, let’s do that, let’s try that’. So I’ll try absolutely everything. I might not do it very well but I’ll try it.”

Evers said they were “reinventing the wheel” with their routines and training, but Mills was determined to succeed.

He said: “I had no idea what I was up against coming into this series and skating with an amputee which has never been done before like this. She’s given 125%, puts in just as much time as everybody else and has never said ’no’ or ’I can’t’. It’s been really inspiring.”

Evers went on: “We had no idea what to expect and how much she could achieve. I think right now the sky’s the limit because so far – fingers crossed – she’s been able to do everything.”

Mills will take to the ice again this Sunday, which will be the first time the male and female contestants have performed together.

Of her routine, she said: “I don’t know what’s happened to Jayne (Torvill) and Chris (Dean) but they’ve suddenly gone to level eight on show two.

“They’re getting so excited about everybody and everyone’s got these amazing routines. I’m getting thrown everywhere, there’s loads of technical skating.

“There’s a few moments where I’m in control of Matt which is really weird, because I’ve got to do this thing which is at an angle and if I don’t, he goes flying into the audience.”
