The following story is a great example of the power of the press being used for profiteering instead of just being informative and sharing a story for the greater good of the population.
It is such a shame that the press has portrayed someone so generous and giving in such a bad light.
In normal cases of divorce it is standard to expect an asset split following separation, and it is normal for this to take a couple of years.
Has anyone considered just how hard it would have been having no funds while waiting for settlement?
Or how much legal fees would be costing while the fight is ongoing?
Please read what Heather has to say.
Note: She does not for a minute mention how hard it was for her.
She just speaks of her sadness that she had to stop assisting others while times were a bit tough.

Paul McCartney’s ex-wife Heather Mills has blamed their acrimonious divorce for ruining her career as a charity campaigner.
The former glamour model divorced the Beatles bassist in 2008. McCartney was forced to hand over $38.9m (£24.3m) to her as part of the settlement.
However, Mills has now declared that the barrage of “bad press” which followed the couple’s fallout led to several organisations refusing to work with her.
She told OK Reporter: “It destroyed a lot of my charity work – which was hugely upsetting. We had the biggest land mine-clearing charity in the world. A certain quarter of the press destroyed that to nothing.
“Because I didn’t get my divorce settlement for a few years I couldn’t fund it because I didn’t have any money. People didn’t want to be associated with it because of all my bad press.

I hope in future the press surrounding Heather Mills will be in line with the good work that she does and not about the settlement she managed to get.
I personally am impressed that someone could put themselves through so much and still come out smiling.
Keep up the good work Heather. There are a lot of people that owe you thanks, and i am sure there are a lot more who wish you were able to help them.
I challenge Paul to take up some of the charity work and do some good with the he got. (Which I have not yet seen mentioned)
There was a small appologie given for this one small attack by the Tabloid as follows.

Heather Mills receives tabloid apology
Heather Mills has received an apology from the Daily Star newspaper over a front page headline which appeared to suggest that she was to compete against ex-husband Sir Paul McCartney on Dancing On Ice.
On December 23, the publication ran with the headline “Macca versus Mucca on Ice” in reference to the fact that Mills is appearing alongside McCartney’s second cousin Emily Atack on the ITV1 skating show.
In an apology printed today, the Daily Star acknowledged that the headline “may have been taken to mean that Heather was to compete against her former husband Sir Paul McCartney, so reigniting a family feud”.
The newspaper added: “As the article stated, it is Sir Paul’s second cousin Emily Atack who is a competitor. In fact she and Heather are on very good terms. We apologise for this misleading article and any distress we may have caused.”
The Guardian reports that the Press Complaints Commission brokered the apology after receiving a complaint from Mills.
Mills used her Twitter page to comment on the article in question at the time, urging tabloids to “cut the crap” in their reporting.

“Couldn’t of said it better myself” Twitter in 140 characters or less has summed this up well
